A home usually starts in the kitchen
Why we often begin right here
When we design a home, we almost always start with the kitchen. Not because it’s the trickiest space, but because it’s where real life happens. Morning coffee on the go. Friends over for dinner. Emails at the counter. Kids doing homework while dinner simmers.
It’s where people gather, talk, argue, laugh, clean, serve. And that’s exactly why the kitchen gets special attention at PEAM. It’s not just one room among many. It’s the centre. And most of the time, it sets the tone for everything that follows.
As individual as the life you live in it
Every kitchen we design is different. Some are quiet, minimal and clean-lined. Others are open, expressive, with shelves full of things in use. Spices, tools, bowls.
We never work from templates. We ask questions. How do you cook? What matters to you? What belongs out in the open and what doesn’t? That’s how a space is created that not only works, but truly feels right.
The kitchen sets the rhythm
In many of our projects, the kitchen doesn’t just define the mood, it defines the whole direction. It leads with its materials, tones, and surfaces. And this language quietly continues into the rest of the home.
The brushed steel from the kitchen might reappear as a shelf in the living room. The oak cabinetry carries through to a wardrobe or dining table. That’s how a house feels like one complete story. Not just a collection of rooms.
Big statement or small-space brilliance
Some kitchens want to be seen. Like the five-metre island in Villa S that anchors the entire space. Others stay clever and compact, like the one in our Tiny Apartment. Just under four metres long, with a built-in washer, lots of storage and plenty of breathing room.
It’s never really about size. It’s about how well the space supports your everyday life.
Stainless steel that knows what it’s doing
We use stainless steel a lot. Not because it’s trendy, but because it’s proven itself. In professional kitchens, sure. But also in real homes. It’s durable, hygienic, heat-resistant and easy to live with.
Especially when it’s brushed, slightly aged and full of character. And in smaller rooms, it reflects the light, makes things feel bigger and brings a sense of clarity. When paired with warm woods like oak or walnut, it creates depth and a beautiful tension between cool and cosy.
Built in South Tyrol. Made to last
Our kitchens are crafted in South Tyrol, with partners who’ve grown with us over many years. Every detail is made to measure, carefully planned and built with love for the process.
It’s not about luxury for luxury’s sake. It’s about lasting quality. Materials that age gracefully. Designs that support real life. Spaces that still work years down the line.
We’ve got a thing for oak
Alongside stainless steel, oak is one of our favourites. And we treat it differently each time. Sometimes quiet and white-oiled, with hardly any grain. Other times brushed, smoked or left raw for more texture and personality. It depends on the space, the architecture, and the people who live there.
And we love when that same oak runs through the whole home. Behind a dining bench, inside a wardrobe, as part of a sideboard. Sometimes we even design an entire series of furniture to match the kitchen.
Yes, we’ll count your glasses
We take planning seriously. Not because we’re perfectionists – well, actually, we are – but because we want everything to fit. In the final stages, we’ve been known to count how many glasses or knives our clients own – just so we can plan exactly what belongs where.
That doesn’t make our kitchens rigid. It makes them flexible in the best way. Good structure doesn’t limit you. It frees you.
Kitchens should feel lived in
Our kitchens are made to be used. They don’t have to look perfect. They should feel alive and honest.
That’s why we design every detail to be both beautiful and practical. Like our Pebble board, made from solid walnut. Smooth curves, great grip, made to sit out and be used every day. Not for styling. For living.
Because that’s what brings a kitchen to life: not perfection, but personality.
